Here in 2022, I find myself in the midst of a considerable transition. About two months ago I officially sold my favorite car, my Honda Civic Type R, for a fully electric Tesla Model Y. I love everything about it so far. Featured image is from a local EV event held at TIAA Bank Field that I attended recently.
In other news, I have switched gears from NFL towards NBA, cycling to a full circle of about thirty years ago when I followed my beloved Chicago Bulls through their three-peat era. A bit late in the NBA season, I purchased NBA 2K22 for PC and I’m loving it. The learning curve for this game is steep. I’m OK with it, but there is much I can learn particularly about play calling. I still keep tabs on NFL off-season which has been quite a hit this year…!
Work is still an issue, as I imagine it will be for the foreseeable future. Once I have a solid team built that works well together I should have to do less and oversee more, but we aren’t there yet. I’m looking forward to the wisdom and experience my current management role is providing for me.
Time is of the utmost importance to me as it is being demanded from me on a daily basis. Even now my A/C vent is leaking water (!) forcing me to work at home and await a repair technician. Lunch time is coming up and I’m looking forward to eating. I did not shower as I was attempting to poke around in my attic this morning to see what the issue is up there. I am not one to navigate in my attic so it remains a mystery. My lawn is overdue for a mow so that is figuratively looming overhead as well. There is certainly a shortage of hours in the day.
Following NBA has been interesting–like putting on an old pair of shoes. Due to proximity I decided to follow the Orlando Magic. I even passed by the Amway Center a few weeks back and wondered about attending a game. Maybe next season, given Orlando is the worst team in the NBA and did not qualify for the playoffs. I appreciate the irony in that the Jaguars and the Magic are a couple of the worst franchises in their respective sports. What I can say is sports, in general, has become a welcome and necessary release from my transition to management, and I will dive into it as deep as I need to. I will likely attempt to attend at least one NBA or NFL game this upcoming season. There is also a court down the road from me at the park that I can buy a basketball and shoot around at for some exercise and nostalgia.
Finances are finances. The stock market is ridiculous right now, as I’m sure it has been historically. I’m fortunate in that I earn enough to manage for my wife and I–I never take that for granted and continue to stay hungry. That hunger has served me well in my professional career. I’m still eager to get to the point where I can begin to save and diversify investments for my future.
That’s about all I have for this update–look out for some more this year!
