Miata is always the answer. After my first foray with Mazda’s MX-5 back in 2017 the fire was lit–I swore I would always have a convertible. This proved to be untrue as I traded my only convertible in that same year, but the allure remained.
Enter 2020 and there is a global virus pandemic upon us. My work imposes a mandatory WFH and I in turn start this very blog. TV commercials and other advertisements begin to pop up for 0% APR auto loans. I certainly don’t need another car, but how can I pass up a free loan!?
So I peruse local dealerships and find a machine metallic gray 2020 Mazda MX-5 convertible. The previous convertible I had owned came with vinyl convertible top problems and I was against used convertibles in the future as a result. This new one was everything you would want out of a Miata. I acquired this MX-5 Miata in 2020 around April timeframe.
Due to the pandemic (and the fact it is a secondary vehicle) there is minimal mileage, but it runs perfectly and the top functions without flaw. It is a secondary vehicle, the third in my current fleet (including my wife’s BMW and my primary Honda). I play with the idea of selling it at some point but who knows what the future beholds…
Update: I ended up selling this car to make room for a project in its place. I bought Project CELICA in early 2021 and it took this spot in the garage. I frequently regret selling this car but at the same time never have trouble sleeping. The goal now is if I can find a low mileage S2000 to replace this project, if I can find the energy, money, and time…
