I traded in a Porsche 911 Carrera S for this car–and I have zero regrets. The purchase occurred at the top of the 2020 year in January.

I have never had as much of an emotional attachment to a car in my life before this car. This car is an extension of me as a person. The irony is, I’m typically a quiet, reserved type of person. This car is super loud and ostentatious.

I tend to like to take my time with tasks and be thorough… this car’s about going fast. The car is very boy racer–18 year old me would love this just as much as 37 year old me. The only initial change/upgrade I had to have was a more pronounced exhaust note. I ordered from HKS–a known Japanese aftermarket auto tuning brand–and I actually installed this myself with an old colleague of mine from high school.

It’s getting really Japanese now!

I absolutely adore everything about this car and I can’t see myself ever selling it. The car is a hot hatch–similar to my old Mazda 3 hatchback. After my wife had the BRZ as a daily, I had two cars–an NC Mazda MX-5 and a Mazda 3. Ultimately, I ended up trading in the MX-5 for the BMW as it was a higher value vehicle and less practical. If I had the opportunity for purchase at MSRP, I would have traded both cars in for a Honda Civic Type R and kept the Subaru BRZ. I may not have ever looked at any other cars. I recently took this car to the local racetrack and “broke it in” there–what an experience that was!

I just crossed 7k miles with the Honda due to the recent Coronavirus pandemic forcing WFH. Due to the recent track experience I wore down my brake pads and tires, so I’ll need to schedule some time for maintenance on those at some point. This car was the realization of a dream coming true, and once I pay it off in full–I will happily insure it for the duration.
