It feels a bit early for my update–I associate Autumn with cooler weather, and the heat of Florida is fully on right now. It is peak heat and humidity. I may start using quarters to define these posts as opposed to seasons. I’ve been working white collar long enough–Q3 update!
Last month, I had to put my elder cat down, and it was easily one of the top five worst experiences I’ve ever had to endure. I would put it around top 2 even. I’ve had to euthanize two cats and this one was easily worst than the first. I don’t really have much else to say about that topic aside from that it hurt quite a bit for a couple of weeks. I feel like I’m beginning to come to terms–the only thing I’ve noticed is my spending has gotten slightly out of control. I know I need to reign it in eventually–it has not fully gone off the rails.
I’ve delved into my EA CFB for 2027–they’ve improved it with some NIL facets and additional logic related to training facilities. It has certainly gotten more complex, but I like it. They were inches away from implementing microtransactions of the likes of NBA 2K but public outrage seemed to walk them back.
To be quite honest, I may still be subconsciously dealing with the death. I’m actually fairly certain I’m still subconsciously dealing and it is most certainly impacting my ability to focus on pretty much anything of substance. I remember from when my Mom passed that may way of grieving is to focus on pretty much anything else I can focus on. If I recall, I think I went on a bit of a spending spree when she passed as well–rebuilding the PC which I’m using as we speak, and recycling several older towers that I had, ultimately giving them to my nieces. This time I ended up replacing my TV and a computer monitor, looking to offset the costs by selling older equipment on eBay. These are all miniature projects that give me focus. The other obvious thing that helps focus is gaming–in this case, EA College Football while I wait for the NFL to kick off my Fantasy Football season.
All this to state that I may have an abbreviated post this quarter/season. My creative juices just are not really here right now. What I can say is that I am still employed and January is fast approaching. Every January seems to hit me pretty hard. My old manager reached out to me on Facebook and saw that he is doing well after being let go. The office is a shell of its former self–lots of memories over the course of almost 15 years.
Claude is my choice professional AI (Claude Code) and Copilot is my choice for personal use, however, I find myself frequently annoyed with Copilot so I may or may not pivot. For some reason, it continually references things in the past as if they are current and I’m not sure why that is the case. If I challenge it, it always seems to correct itself, but if I was not cross-referencing its responses against something else like Gemini, I would fall to its gaslighting (where it responds with false information with confidence). Fortunately, I have good intuition so I generally end up in the right spot and I suppose if I do fall to old information, its still reasonably current enough (within the past year or two).
I forgot to mention–I visited my cousin for his wedding in Alabama and had a good time. I also took a trip to Atlanta for work and put some faces to names that I have worked with for the past couple of years. Hoping to get a cadence of at least getting in touch with my roots annually. Lastly, the feature image is of a modern Honda Prelude, a hybrid that I encountered in person for the first time in Alabama of all places.
